Petition

Telling a foreign government how to take care of its own citizens is rarely a good idea. Click here for a petition against the petition.

  1. I am not sure if I would sign either the petition OR the petition against the petition. The Ethiopian government needs to make changes, but the changes should be to add MORE staff and INCREASE the scrutiny of each case to maintain the current processing time, but reduce the caseload of each staff person.

That is part of what the Joint Council on International Children’s Services is saying, but I would not want to see the Government of Ethiopia take the other extreme and not do what it must do to provide improved and proper oversight of each case. I wish I could donate money to MOWA to help fund new caseworkers. I won’t likely adopt again from Ethiopia, but I sure would like to help the program become healthy and strong.
