* Several families went to court and legally terminated the rights to their children. Even though it was news we had been waiting for, there is nothing to celebrate in a family affirming that they cannot raise their child. It is heartbreaking.
* A family reclaimed a child. Happiness in knowing that a family was reunited does not diminish the pain to the people who had hoped to adopt that child. More heartbreak.
* We got a new court date and got plane tickets for the day after tomorrow. We wondered if things would work out this time.
* This afternoon we found out about a possible delay. AGAIN. This time it is contingent on when the judge wants to hear our case.
:-( Brutal. It is just brutal, for everyone. Take care.
ReplyDeletenot easy, so so hard, hard for everyone, thinking of you
ReplyDeleteI had these quotes on my blog the other day and they made me think of you when I saw this post...
ReplyDelete"Your journey has molded you for your greater good, and it was exactly what it needed to be. Don't think you've lost time. There is no short-cutting to life. It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now is right on time." -Asha Tyson
"Be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you." -Ovid
Love ya cuz.
I have no useful words - just - hang in there.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about you, and about those two boys halfway around the world. Hang in there, somehow. (I don't have any tips on how exactly to do that, but please know that you have a community of people supporting you.)
ReplyDeleteI don't have any words of wisdom, other than the statement "adoption isn't easy" is sure an understatement after reading this post. Thinking of you and the boys and hoping for a resolution soon.
ReplyDeleteWOW. I cannot imagine being that family. I guess WHFC can now tell people they have had it happen twice... I know a few of us were told it has happened one time in all of their adoptions. Hoping you do NOT get delayed again.
ReplyDeleteWow. Adoption is hard on everyone in the triangle. Thanks for simply reminding us of that. Do keep us posted on your court date. Do you know if your kids' family has been to court yet?
ReplyDeleteBest of luck in Ethiopia. I hope you get one step closer to bringing your kids home.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am hopeful that if there is a delay it will be short this time, just a few days, not two months.
ReplyDeleteAdoption is always the result of tragic circumstances. And even though they warn us of the need to be flexible and expect the unexpected when dealing with international adoption -- sheesh you got your share of it and way more than then some. Sending out positive thoughts for you and the boys.
ReplyDeleteLike Kelly says, there is an entire community of folks supporting you quietly --and maybe invisibly, but nonetheless still there.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you are bogged down AGAIN. You are right...this is hard, and anyone who claims otherwise is lying.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get very good news very soon.
