Topics for future blog posts

I have a whole bunch of things I want to write about:
  • meeting the boys
  • traveling through Burji and feeling so proud of how beautiful it is
  • getting stuck in a river and the Kalashnikov-toting saints who spent five hours trying to get us out
  • how we finally got back to Addis
  • the incredible families of our U.S. Amharic tutors who we have met here in Addis
But that's going to have to wait until we have some news on our case. It's been eight days since our original court date and we are no closer to a new date. The families from Burji have not come up to Addis to testify. The boys are not being allowed to come to Addis either. The good news is that the families of all the children being adopted from Burji are having multiple chances to change their minds. If the boys do ever come to the U.S. with us, we'll know that it's what their relatives really wanted. The bad news is, self-pity has a way of creeping in. I want to do justice to the positive experiences we've had here, so I need to wait until I'm on the other side of all this to write about them.

  6. I admire your ability to respect the process and recognize that the families are getting multiple opportunities to make a final decision regarding their children. On the other hand, I SO wish you were not stuck in the adoption limbo. It is not a fun place to be. I'm excited to read your posts when you are in the place you need to be to write them. Much love!

  9. Kyra, you have been on my mind so much. I am glad to hear that you got to meet the boys and go to Burji, but sad to hear that everything is still in a state of unknown for you. Limbo is terrible. Hang in there, somehow. ((HUGS))
